seo-reportsA few months ago, a small business client asked me if there was an easier way to manage SEO reporting (keyword rankings, link counts, etc) and keep track of online competition.

Please keep in mind that with her Joomla site, we are well beyond having proper page title generation, friendly urls and submitting the website sitemap to search engines. Finally, don't get fooled by any reporting tool or Joomla related SEO extension. While they will save you time and effort, you still have to invest a fair amount of time related to your strategy and content.

At this point, my best independent recommendation is to use seoMoz which in summary allows for the following:

Keyword Rankings. Not only that you obtain keyword rankings, but you may review how much traffic you receive for each keyword and see ranking changes over the past week. Actually as you can see, we are going down (ouch!).

Competitive Link Analysis. You may easily check number and quality of search engine followed and nofollowed urls for your and up to 3 other sites. The link numbers and quality are summarized with a single Domain Authority number.

Crawl Dignostics. Just like any CMS, joomla can sometimes generate some odd or useless pages even if your site architecture is configured in the most optimal way.

On Page Optimization Reports. These reports provide actionable recommendations to optimize your onsite SEO elements. Review a sample report for Joomla Consultant page.

Traffic Data
seoMoz pulls traffic data from Google Analytics to generate its own traffic reports and they give you 3 interesting graphs (by monthly or weekly view):

  • Total Organic Search Visits
  • URLs Receiving Entrances Via Search
  • Non-Paid Keywords Sending Search Visits
