virtuemart-keywordIn my yesterday's post: Virtuemart Stores - 8 Website Metrics You Must Track (& Why?), I initialted a new topic about 4 possible ways to categorize Virtuemart shop keywords:

  • Brand keywords. Visitors who use brand keywords are the most valuable because they use your brand name as a shortcut to making their purchasing decision. Those visitors are likely to buy from you even if your competition may offer a lower price. If you have a unique brand name, you should not have problems ranking high for brand keywords.

  • Informational keywords. Visitors who use informational keywords are looking for information, tutorials and questions to their specific problems. Based on my experiences, these keywords produce the lowest conversion rates but their search volumes are high. You should consider starting a blog and optimizing it for this group of keywords to establish your expertise and website trust.

  • General product keywords. Visitors who use general product keywords don’t know specifically what type of product they are looking for and they are relatively early in their decision making process. The best Virtuemart landing pages to optimize for these keywords would be product category pages.

  • Product specific keywords. Visitors who use product specific keywords know very well what they are looking for and are very close to making their purchasing decision. You are recommended to optimize specific product pages for these keywords.

How do you like to categorize and keep your keywords of interest organized?
